Hi! I'm Alex, an incoming University of Chicago student with a passion for teaching math, science, and standardized test preparation.
Academically, I've earned a 1590 SAT (800 Reading & Writing, 790 Math), scored 5s on numerous AP exams including Calculus BC, Physics 1 & 2, Physics C, Mechanics, Chemistry, Biology, and AP English Language, and was inducted into the Cum Laude Society at Choate Rosemary Hall, one of the nation's top boarding schools.

Beyond the classroom, I've conducted research at Yale University in both astronomy and medicine. My work has included developing software to analyze thousands of Hubble Space Telescope images and helping prototype a patented medical device. I have also published first-author research through the American Astronomical Society.
What matters most to me, however, is helping students build confidence. I've worked as both a peer tutor and literacy tutor, helping students improve grades, strengthen study habits, and develop a deeper understanding of difficult material. One student I worked with raised their grade from a B to an A, while another improved from failing and regularly skipping class to earning a passing grade.
My teaching style focuses on understanding rather than memorization. I don't believe in simply showing students how to solve one problem. I help them understand why concepts work so they can tackle unfamiliar questions independently. Whether we're preparing for the SAT, working through AP Physics, mastering chemistry concepts, or strengthening math fundamentals, my goal is to make challenging material feel approachable and even enjoyable.
I know firsthand how stressful academics and testing can be, and I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Learning is a process, and I'm committed to helping students succeed every step of the way.
