Certified Math Teacher - Expert in Algebra and Geometry

I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Business. In addition, I have 2 Master’s degrees in Educational Leadership. I am currently certified to teach Mathematics and Business.

I am a classroom teacher with over 27 years of public school experience. I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2, Personal Finance, Accounting and have also done Tier 2 intervention for students needing extra support with math. I love math, but recognize that not everyone else does. My extensive work with high school students has given me the ability to determine why a student is struggling and how to help that student meet with success.

I believe students need rote practice with solving problems in math, but also need to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. To help students gain understanding, I ensure to include a visual approach to concepts. Additionally, I like to know what my students' interests are outside of class and aim to tailor problems to those areas.
After not playing the guitar for over 30 years, I revisited playing the guitar about a year ago by taking weekly lessons. This experience has solidified my philosophy of teaching and learning - the only way to get better at anything is to practice and to have a coach guide you to achieve your goals.
