I am a former classroom teacher with 8+ years of experience helping young learners build strong reading foundations. I hold a California Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, a Reading & Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential, and a Master’s degree in Reading & Literacy from San Diego State University.

In addition to teaching, for the past four years, I have collaborated with teachers to design and implement targeted reading intervention lessons for struggling readers. This work strengthened my ability to quickly identify foundational skill gaps and create systematic, research-based plans that accelerate progress.

I specialize in supporting students ages 4–10 in:

• Phonemic awareness
• Phonics and decoding
• Fluency
• Early reading confidence
• Structured literacy intervention

I have tutored a wide rang of students including those with dyslexia and use evidence-based approaches, including the Reading Simplified method, to build automatic word recognition and strengthen decoding in an efficient, engaging way.

My instruction is aligned with the Science of Reading and is explicit, systematic, and individualized. Each student begins with an informal assessment so I can pinpoint strengths and needs. From there, I design targeted lessons that build skills step-by-step while fostering confidence and independence.

Families can expect clear communication, focused intervention, and ongoing insight into their child’s progress. My goal is to help children become confident, capable readers with the foundational skills necessary for long-term success.

Handwriting

Handwriting

I have over 8 years of experience teaching early elementary students foundational handwriting skills, including proper letter formation, spacing, and pencil grip. As a former kindergarten teacher I understand how important handwriting development is to early reading and spelling success. I provide explicit, step-by-step instruction to strengthen fine motor skills, improve legibility, and build writing fluency. My approach is patient, structured, and developmentally appropriate for young learners who need targeted support.
Phonics

Phonics

I have over 8 years of experience teaching early literacy and hold a Master’s degree in Reading & Literacy from San Diego State University. As a former classroom teacher and Reading & Literacy Leadership Specialist, I designed and implemented targeted phonics intervention lessons for struggling readers in collaboration with fellow educators. My instruction is aligned with the Science of Reading and follows a structured, systematic approach to build phonemic awareness, decoding accuracy, and automatic word recognition. I have also supported students with dyslexia using evidence-based strategies, including the Reading Simplified method, to strengthen foundational skills and reading confidence.
