I hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science and worked for nearly ten years as a software developer, with experience in Python, JavaScript, React, databases, REST APIs, and other technologies. I enjoy making complicated ideas understandable and helping people become more confident with both computer programming and everyday computer use. I also have a strong foundation in mathematics and am prepared to tutor Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and geometry, as well as other maths.
For approximately two years, I worked at the tutoring center at Capital Community College, where I helped students with math and English. That experience taught me to listen carefully, identify where someone is getting stuck, and explain the same idea in different ways until we find an approach that makes sense to them. My professional experience has also included patiently helping and mentoring colleagues, troubleshooting problems, and breaking larger tasks into manageable steps.
I feel especially well prepared to work with adult and college students, including people returning to school, learning a new technical skill, or rebuilding confidence in a subject. I am also open to working with high school and elementary school students. My approach is patient, encouraging, and responsive to each student’s goals, learning style, and current level of understanding.
