I am a college professor of communication with more than twenty years of experience teaching advanced writing, rhetoric, and public speaking. I work with undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals who want to strengthen their writing and communication at a high level.

For students, I offer in depth support with analytical essays, research papers, and long form projects, including thesis and dissertation writing. My approach focuses on helping writers develop clear arguments, strong organization, and precise, effective prose. I work best with students who want to move beyond surface level editing and make substantive improvements in both their thinking and their writing.

I also work with students and professionals on public speaking, presentations, and workplace communication. This includes presentation design, delivery, audience awareness, and persuasive messaging for academic or professional settings. Whether you are preparing for an important presentation, refining your communication style, or working to improve clarity and confidence, I provide structured, practical guidance.

At the core of my work is the belief that strong writing and speaking begin with clear thinking. Rather than focusing only on grammar or last minute edits, I help clients develop well reasoned arguments, use evidence effectively, and communicate their ideas with purpose and precision.

Sessions are collaborative and structured, with a focus on the specific needs of each project. We may work on thesis development, overall organization, paragraph level clarity, or revision strategies. For presentations, I address both what you say and how you say it, helping you shape and deliver ideas effectively for your audience.

I work best with clients who are willing to engage actively in the writing or preparation process. My sessions are designed to support meaningful development, not quick proofreading or emergency fixes.

Career Development

Career Development

Effective interviewing is built on thorough preparation. With a background in teaching professional and business communication, I have mentored numerous students and coached clients specifically for the interview process. My comprehensive methodology involves conducting deep research into the target organization, developing a robust list of potential questions, and crafting clear, impactful responses. We then work on practicing these answers to ensure they are delivered in an adaptive, conversational, and confident manner. In addition to focused interview prep, I provide guidance in broader career counseling, planning, and exploration.
Debate

Debate

I bring deep knowledge of rhetoric and argumentation—the foundations of debate—developed through rigorous graduate training and ongoing professional practice. My graduate program in rhetoric was home to one of the top university debate teams, and many of my professors and peers served as coaches and advisors. Through formal coursework and extensive debate and discussion with faculty and colleagues, I learned the fundamentals of debate structure, research, preparation, and strategic argumentation. In my professional career, I have judged collegiate debate tournaments and remain actively engaged with current scholarship and practices in argumentation.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

My academic and professional background has centered on rhetoric, writing, and public speaking, with extensive experience teaching both dedicated writing courses and research-heavy curricula. I specialize in supporting clients through the complexities of thesis development and research-based essays, as well as expository, argumentative, and personal writing projects. My approach for non-fiction begins with a rigorous focus on the specific purpose of the assignment and its intended audience. By helping clients refine their thinking and sharpen their focus, I enable them to produce superior work more efficiently. As a writing coach, I aim to help you capitalize on your natural strengths while identifying and overcoming the obstacles that hinder your best written performance.
Film

Film

I bring extensive training in literature, film, screenwriting, and creative writing from undergraduate, graduate, and post‑graduate study, including a screenwriting program at UCLA. My teaching experience encompasses literature, film, and writing courses, where I integrate critical analysis with creative practice. Screenwriting is a particular passion of mine, and I approach it as both an art form and an analytical discipline, emphasizing storytelling, structure, and revision as essential skills for student writers.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have taught public speaking at the college level for more than twenty years, working with thousands of students to help them elevate their speaking abilities. I believe that effective communication is achievable for everyone once they understand—and lean into—their individual strengths. Strong speakers develop their effectiveness through a unique combination of intellect, personality, and delivery. My goal in working with clients is to help them identify and refine these strengths and to develop a public speaking persona that authentically reflects them. My approach is both individualized and audience-focused.
