I'm Ian! I'm a pre-medical student at the University of Connecticut who scored a 521 on the MCAT this past summer, with section scores of 130/128/132/131. I'm Ian! I'm a pre-medical student at the University of Connecticut who scored a 521 on the MCAT this past summer, with section scores of 130/128/132/131. My academic background spans biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology, and I currently conduct independent pharmaceutical research in UConn's Burgess Lab and work as an EMT, which means I bring real clinical and academic experience to MCAT concepts that many tutors only know theoretically. Whether it's cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology, or the psychological and social dimensions covered in the behavioral science sections, I can connect abstract material to how it actually presents in medical contexts.
My tutoring approach is informed by my experience as a substitute teacher over the past three years, during which I developed the ability to adapt instruction quickly to students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds. This approach is highly personalized. I begin by identifying where a student is falling short and why, then build a plan targeting both content gaps and test strategy. I am comfortable working with students at any stage of preparation, from those just beginning to those aiming to improve their score in the 510+ range.

MCAT

I scored a 521 on the MCAT (130/128/132/131), placing me in the 98th percentile, with particular strength in the biological and chemical sciences. I am a pre-medical student at the University of Connecticut, a pharmaceutical researcher, and a working EMT — giving me a practical, applied understanding of the material that extends well beyond test preparation. I also have nearly three years of experience as a part-time substitute teacher, during which I developed the ability to adapt instruction to students with diverse learning styles and needs. This combination of academic achievement, real clinical exposure, and teaching experience allows me to help students not just memorize content, but genuinely understand it.
