Two of the most important attributes of a good teacher or tutor are patience and the ability to break down difficult subject matters. These I do possess, among others that would qualify me to be the person to teach you or your child. In addition, I earned my undergraduate (Bachelors) degrees in Computer and Electrical Engineering with minors in Math and Computer Science at SUNYIT in Utica NY. Also, I hold a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 3.7 GPA and concentration in Power System, along with a Graduate Certificate in Power System and Electronics from NYU-POLY in Brooklyn NY.
I am currently attending NYU-POLY as a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering, while I work as a Control Design Engineer, designing military motor controllers. With over eighteen years experience in teaching and tutoring, I have taught students in Geometry, prealgebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, precalculus, calculus I/II/III, differential equations, physics, numerical computation, programming in C/C++ and Assembly Language, and QuickBooks. Also, I have received recognitions from SUNYIT for outstanding student staff contribution to the College of Science and Technology.
I take studying seriously and encourage students to make it a priority to ensure successful mastery of subject matters. Not all of us are born as geniuses; however, we all have the ability to work hard and hard work does pay off in life. With this in mind I teach techniques that do not rely solely on memorization, but rather a process of how to think and solve problems systematically. I will teach you or your child how to master the skills necessary to be a successful problem solver. I work with small groups or on an individual basis. I love people and enjoy helping others to become more successful and fulfilled human beings. Life has taught me that to be successful we all rely on others to teach us what we do not know. Once successful in our endeavors, we must be willing to give back to society. Helping others to learn is one of the ways I give back.
If you have the need to learn, why not let an esteemed individual in education, who is a professional engineer, help you to be successful. I wouldn’t have become successful without the help of others. Let me return the favor by helping you overcome your challenges. Rayhon tutored my son in Calc this past Summer. During his first year at college, he was taught Calc by a teacher's assistant, not an actual Professor. His grades were terrible 20% .. 40% .. and he was severely disheartened. We brought Rayhon onboard via WyzAnt, and I am pleased to report that upon re-taking Calc this year, my son just posted a 92% grade for his mid-term exam. Many thanks to Rayhon, and WyzAnt for putting us together.
My son has only had one lesson but it looks promising so far. My son has some level of confidence now where he had none before so I would say that my initial results with Rayhon are good. We'll see after a week of GED prep and another lesson goes. Thanks Rayhon.
Ray really helped me with portions of my physics final exam. Thank you for being able to come at the last minute.
Rayhon is definitely engaging and attentive to individual needs. He has high expectations, but also delivers high quality tutoring. Very satisfied!
Review by my son:
Rayhon has helped me incredibly in Calculus. I wasn't doing too well earlier this year, but after I started working with Rayhon, my grade has gone up and my understanding of Calculus has greatly expanded. He shows you how to do the work so that you understand it and then teaches a faster method that is easier than what you might learn in class. I'd highly recommend Rayhon for anyone who needs help with their school work.
My son is a senior in high school. He has been doing very poorly in calculus this year, that is until we found Rayhon. My son went from earning F's to earning A's. Rayhon tutors my son via Skype and this has worked very well for them. My son has ADHD, which while being a gift, throws us some curves. Reducing the steps needed to solve calculus problems is what I believe has really helped my son. Thank you Rayhon!
I was very grateful to have Rayhon as a physics tutor! He tries to find the best days for his students to meet, and is very easy to talk to! He knows the material very well and wants to help as much as he can! Very grateful to have him as a tutor, and any other student would be lucky to have him!
Ray is a firm but patient tutor who has helped my son transition from middle school math to the demands of high school math. An investment in my son's academic success is most important and finding the right tutor was imperative. We are fortunate to work with a tutor who has helped with attaining the success in math of which my son is capable.
My daughter was doing very well in her honors physics class and was a B+ to A- student. She wanted to understand physics conceptually and practically and to increase her skills in extrapolation with the understanding of the formulas and laws. Rayhon came in, and with his white board, he was able to draw out the concepts on the board and show practical applications of the laws. He was patient and knew how to work with a child who wanted to achieve more. He accommodated her schedule and at the end of the course she achieved an A. Thank you, Rayhon.
My son has had a great experience with Rayhon's tutoring techniques. Even though Calculus 3 is a challenging/stressful subject, the tutoring by Rayhon helped him feel a bit more comfortable with the material. I would definitely recommend his tutoring service for the advance math person/student looking for understanding in such subject!
Rayhon has been a tremendous support and help to our son. He challenges him and he is dedicated and committed to watching him succeed. So far, after six lessons, our son's confidence and grades in algebra 2 have increased! Thanks Rayhon - we look forward to working with you as the school year progresses.
I selected Rayhon because of his mathematical expertise and enthusiasm. He promptly returned my emails and arrived on time. He gave my son the immediate attention he needed to clarify a mathematical concept. Rayhon prepared a thoughtful lesson which systemically explained the concept. He left handouts to reinforce learning. Rayhon was genuine, concerned about student learning, and confident in his ability to help a student achieve success in mathematics.
Rayhon is an excellent tutor. He is punctual, available and flexible. Rayhon loves all math and it is obvious that he loves to teach his craft. Rayhon was patient with my daughter who was looking for math and math SAT prep help, but gets anxious, overwhelmed and insecure about her abilities.
Rayhon comes with a white board, books and a great attitude and gets right down to business. He was laser focused, figured out how my daughter best learned and gave her options on solving problems. Rayhon was able to connect life, math and my daughter with the material so that at the end of her double session, she was confident with the math that was taught. I will continue to have Rayhon tutor my daughter. I highly recommend Rayhon.
Rayhon is a very patient tutor; I asked for his services for an accelerated calc-based Physics summer course that seemed to come so fast and leave me overwhelmed and frustrated. Rayhon is very flexible with his time; if he knows you are on a time crunch (if you have an exam in two days and have your head under water) he will reorganize his schedule and move appointments around in a way that is convenient and accommodating for everyone. He gives priority to struggling students who need his time the most. Although he was a very knowledgeable physics tutor, the most important thing Rayhon taught me was to have confidence in my instincts and my answers. My biggest issue as a physics student was that I was having a hard time doing the problems quickly and consequently I was not finishing exams in the allowed period. When I worked with Rayhon, he would not allow me to say "I don't know, isn't the answer this?" or "I think you do it this way"- he forced me to approach every question with confidence in myself and my answers. By getting out of the habit of second-guessing myself, I was able to do exams much quicker and now I finish exams with time to spare. This has had an astounding affect on my exam success. He teaches the approach, and instead of stressing the answer itself, he stresses the principals behind that answer. Eventually, after working with Rayhon, you have not learned simply how to solve specific problems, but you have mastered a vast array of skills and fundamentals which can then be applied to anything asked of you. If you are looking for a tutor to do your homework for you or answer point-blank specific questions, that is not really Rayhon's style. He will go through everything from the beginning and make sure your foundation is solid, and from there you will find that doing homework becomes easy, and those specific questions answer themselves. If you come prepared and ready to learn, Rayhon will put in 200% until you are confident and comfortable. He is willing to work with you all day if that is what it takes. There are few tutors who are as patient and dedicated.
Ray has been very patient and kind towards my son who is a high school student studying Pre-Calculus. He has reinforced the importance of slowing down and taking time answering math problems. My son was doing problems in his head, rushing and wasn't being careful. He was losing a lot of credit on tests. Ray helped him see the error of this approach.
Ray is also a gentleman and hard working professional with a strong engineering background. He also has a great deal of teaching experience with student with learning difficulties. Ray is very creative in finding ways to reach students with different learning styles. He is always on time with his large white board and gracious smile. I would recommend him as a math/physics tutor.
My son loves Rayhon. He is extremely patient and works through problems step by step while showing him tricks and tips that makes math easier to understand. He also provides a fantastic review for him to look over before his tests. He books lessons last minute and is very easy to reach. I would highly recommend Rayhon for anyone who needs a math tutor. In addition, he brings a giant white board so the teaching is not restricted to pad/paper and pencil. He tries a variety of teaching styles that melds easily with my son's learning style.
Rayhon has tutored our daughter at the end of her freshman year in Physics. Although she is very impatient with learning, his positive attitude and calm style coaxed her through. Our daughter's successful grade on her Physics test at that time was a direct result of the time she spent with Rayhon and his big white board. And our dog loved Rayhon, too!
Rayhon was amazing with our son. I sent him samples of the college level Engineering Physics my son is taking and Rayhon came prepared to teach! He reviewed the material and came with extra material and an enormous white board to work on. They sat for hours and reviewed all the material for my son's final exam! He was informative and creative with his teaching style. Very patient, easy to understand. No heavy accent. My son was blown away with how knowledgeable and helpful Rayhon was. He was thinking about changing his Engineering major but now he thinks he will continue!!! If Rayhon becomes a Professor in college the kids will be banging down the door to get in his class!!! Thank you Rayhon you are AMAZING!!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The ACT Math test can be significantly more difficult than the SAT. Therefore, students need to be well prepared and comfortable with the testing structure/format. They also need to be familiar with the type of questions and wordings. I will help to diagnose your weak areas and develop a plan of study to improve your abilities in those areas. By utilizing different strategies and techniques, I will help you improve your ability to make an educated guess under those instances where you maybe uncertain of a particular question(s). I will use past released test materials as practice questions under real testing conditions to help students build their comfort and confidence level. Being comfortable in all these areas will help students to be better prepared and relaxed on the test day.

As a Christian for more than thirteen years, I have studied the Bible extensively and have attended Bible studies classes at least once per week. I prepare and taught custom Bible studies to individual, small groups, and the congregation. I have been very active in church mentoring youth and new Christians. To study the scriptures effectively it must be studied in context. One must also understand the purpose of the text and who it was written to.
If you are interested in studying the Bible, you must have an open mind to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. The Spirit will reveal the meaning of scripture when it is sought with an open mind. Teaching others is my true passion. Therefore, if you are interested in studying the Bible, let me help you to understand the Word of God. The only thing that is required is for you to have an open mind and the willingness to be obedient to Spirit as He speaks to your heart.
