Hello! I am Thalya, an AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Medical Coding instructor for students starting their National Certification program. I have 1 year of experience in tutoring students who are struggling with the beginning and most crucial steps of Medical Coding. My students typically have little to no knowledge of medical coding and medical terminology. I provide instruction on several different aspects of the coding process including but not limited to; familiarizing students with medical terminology by breaking down word parts (prefixes, suffixes, combining forms), determining critical information in medical documentation, navigating and tabbing ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS Level II Coding Books, learning how and when to use modifiers in coding, utilizing "Code First", "Code Also", and "Guideline Reference" notes in coding books, and the overall step by step process of converting medical documentation to numeric and alphanumeric codes.
I have taught students of all ages, ranging from their early 20s to 50+, and find 1 on 1 sessions to be most beneficial. During our time together we will determine which areas you are struggling with the most and work our way to success from there!
