I have been interested in languages since childhood. I spoke Italian at home. Later I went to college in Paris where I learned French thoroughly. In my fourth year, my fellow students said that I spoke just like a Frenchman.
Although my main career was in Information Technology, I kept up my interest in languages by teaching French, Italian, and ESL part-time for about 15 years at a Hartford-area international language school and by traveling to France and Italy.

I feel so lucky to have found Gabe after unsuccessfully trying out a few other tutors. I tried a couple native-speaker tutors in the past, but I personally believe that the best foreign language tutors are non-native speakers who once had to go through the same struggles as the students they are teaching. That being said, you would never know that Gabe isn't a native French speaker! I'm an adult learner and I don't spend any time in a classroom/taking exams. So Gabe has been able to customize the content of our lessons to accommodate my specific goals. I speak Spanish and while Gabe doesn't tutor students in Spanish, he is basically fluent and is able to effectively help me to connect the dots between the two languages which has helped me immensely to understand some of the more complex grammar concepts that they share. Now I'm gearing up to spend a month in France after about a year of working together weekly and I'm certain that he's given me everything I need to succeed while I'm there. I can't thank him enough for his dedication to my education in the French Language and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the future.

My work often takes me to Francophone Africa, so Gabe takes the time each week to choose topics that are related to Africa and my field of work. I have had two lessons so far with Gabe as I prepare for a summer vacation to Italy, which will include visits with relatives. I have taken Italian classes in the past, but it was many years ago. Gabe is providing me with a a very comfortable, organized and supportive environment as I work on speaking, reading and writing; and he has provided me with good supportive written materials.
