English and Humanities Chair at an Independent Prep School

My name is John B. I'm the department chair of English and Humanities at prep school. My Master's degree is in humanities and my undergrad is in religious studies. I currently teach literature and humanities courses and have taught religious studies and philosophy in the past as well.

I am the father of three wonderful daughters, a podcast host, avid Red Sox fan, and unapologetic nerd. I was born in Britain and grew up in New England, where I currently live. I have been a classroom teacher for more than 15 years and worked as a museum educator before that.

I have worked in media as a copy editor and writer in the past, and I have been teaching literature and writing for a number of years.

I have also been studying and teaching religion and philosophy for more than twenty years. I teach and have taught a variety of religion courses at a private college preparatory school. I am not personally religious, and so I bring a level of objectivity and academic independence that may sometimes be difficult to find in my field. That said, I treat religion with respect and openness, and what I lack in religious zeal I make up for in enthusiasm for my subject.
