I've been a social studies teacher at Somers High School (Somers, CT) for the past eight years. I have experience teaching courses in American History, World History, Civics, Ancient History, Current Affairs and Psychology. I also have an extensive writing background (BA in Journalism, University of Connecticut). Perhaps most importantly, during my experience as a teacher, I've developed numerous strategies to help those students who tend to struggle with their academics. I have developed several different educational approaches to best meet the needs of individual students based on his/her learning styles and interests. I look forward working with you! I've been a social studies teacher at Somers High School (Somers, CT) for the past eight years. I have experience teaching courses in American History, … Read more
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Connecticut. As a teacher of social studies in the Somers Public School system for the past eight years, I have been a part of our district wide goal to improve writing scores amongst the student population. I have spent numerous hours teaching and developing lesson plans that address essay writing and development.
