Hi! My name is Samantha, and I’m a certified social studies teacher in both New York and Connecticut with five years of classroom experience teaching grades 7–12. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education and a master’s degree in Educational Technology. I’ve taught American History, European History, Modern World History, Global History 1 & 2, and Geography—and I’m proud to say that all of my students passed the New York State Global History Regents Exam during my two years teaching Global 10. Currently, I teach social studies to high school students in a special education setting, where I specialize in differentiating instruction to meet every learner’s unique needs.

I also teach social-emotional learning and executive functioning skills, which are essential for academic success and personal growth. Beyond the classroom, I’ve led tutoring and Regents review clubs, providing one-on-one and small-group support for students ages 12–18. My extensive background in U.S. History instruction naturally extends to teaching African American History, as the two are deeply interconnected and essential to understanding the full American narrative. Having completed six college-level courses focused on African American studies, civil rights, and related topics, I bring both academic depth and cultural awareness to the classroom. My experience teaching U.S. History across grades 7–12 in New York and Connecticut has allowed me to weave African American voices, movements, and perspectives into broader historical contexts. This foundation equips me to help students critically examine how African American history shapes, and is shaped by, the political, social, and economic evolution of the United States. I am passionate about creating inclusive, engaging lessons that highlight these connections and empower students to view history through multiple lenses.
