As an undergraduate at Boston College, I majored in International Studies with a concentration in Cooperation and Conflict. My academic interests lie strongly in history, writing, and research methods, which I developed throughout pursuing my degree. My junior year I studied abroad in Granada, Spain, and volunteered at a local high school where I assisted students with verbal English skills. During college I spent every summer working as an art teacher for elementary aged students at a local camp in Stamford, Connecticut, which is where I first developed skills as an educator and classroom leader. Here I learned the importance of student-oriented teaching techniques that keep every student engaged in the material and excited to learn.
I spent the 2023-2024 academic year as an English Teaching Assistant with the Fulbright Program in Spain. I was responsible for preparing and presenting weekly lessons in English language to over 150 students ranging in ages 3-12. In the afternoons I held weekly private English tutoring lessons for 3 separate students aged 13-20. This gave me ample experience in teaching/tutoring English as a foreign language to students with varied skill sets. My approach as an English teacher is a three-pronged approach in developing listening, writing, and production skills.
A passion of mine outside of my degree and experience with Fulbright is English literature and creative writing. I am an avid reader and pursue creative writing as a hobby. I am excited at the opportunity to help potential students engage with different texts they are assigned in school, assist in developing their ideas for reading comprehension essays or creative writing projects, and edit grammar in drafts.
