I have tutored for over 25 years. I have tutored in person 1 on 1 and in small groups. I have also tutored online for the past 5 years. Having taught online for a year, I am very savvy in being able to supply students with resources and share a screen where I write out work to model problem-solving. Chemistry is a challenging subject. Some students just need some additional support to develop a clear foundational understanding of concepts, as well as problem-solving methods in order to be successful. Having taught for over 25 years, I am very familiar with high school and college curricula. I know the misconceptions that students develop and can point out details to prevent these from occurring with my students. I will meet my students where they are in their understanding and I am able to clearly explain concepts using analogies and connections to prior knowledge. I tutor in an interactive way. I ask my students questions and have them explain concepts to me. I encourage them to be active learners. I model problem-solving and then have students complete problems while I watch or listen to their process. I have tutored for Chemistry, general high school level, honors, AP, and college intro classes. I have also tutored ACT Science as well as math including Algebra I and Algebra II. I have also tutored for the Chemistry Olympiad through the American Chemical Society. The students that I have taught and tutored have met great success.
