Bio

I am a former NYS state teacher turned home educating mother of six. Working with children for the past 24 years has been the highlight of my life. I have taught in the classroom and one on one. Throughout the years I have worked with a diverse population of students and believe all students have the capability of learning and growing- no matter the label.

I believe students learn through different modalities and will always help my learners discover what that is. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach to education. I look at each student as an individual and will help him or her walk the path and gather the tools he or she needs in order to have a successful academic career.

I have worked in the classroom as a special education teacher with students ranging from grades 1-9. I have also tutored students with reading difficulties. Many times these students had processing issues and as we worked on the processing issues the we saw improvement in reading skills. I have found a multi sensory approach helped in most cases.

I hold a NY state teaching certificate in Special Education (Nursery-12 th grade) and a NY state Elementary Education (Nursery -6th grade). I taught in the classroom for 7 years working with special education and general education students, I have also tutored many students and educated my own children for the past 17 years.

I have a NY State special Education certification. I have had many years of experience teaching students and adults to read and have worked with many students who struggle with reading. I have testing protocols to pin point the issue.
