I am Pete, a father and small businessman, who has two undergraduate degrees and a post-graduate degree - but my kids will say that my biggest claim-to-fame was that I once was a Jeopardy! winner. I have prepared adults and teenagers to take the GED, and have enjoyed teaching writing and research to post-graduate students. I also have taught English as a second language, and done some teaching and tutoring as a volunteer in local organizations.

Some of my teaching and tutoring experience has been through adult literacy organizations, whose students have often experienced learning setbacks in the past, so I understand that there are many learning styles and look to help find the right fit for each student. I also look for ways to make learning fun and exciting, especially for younger students.

One of my degrees was in journalism and I was a working editor and reporter for several years. In addition, I worked as an adjunct professor, teaching researching and writing to post-graduate students. My small business work also involves considerable editing and writing.

I also have a liberal arts degree, and history has been a subject of interest for many years. Over the years, I have had several published articles about local history (in local history book compilations) and American history (in general interest newspapers).

I hope that students will learn as much as they can when they work with me. So I am open to expanding lesson plans to include ideas from parents and students. Please feel free to contact me with ideas, questions, or to schedule a lesson.
