I studied English and Philosophy at the University of Connecticut before earning my master's degree in English at King's College London (all in the interest of becoming a college professor myself).

Because my own academic career was reading and writing intensive, my skill set is reflective of an ability to (1) process complicated social and literary themes, and (2) communicate my ideas both verbally and in writing. I have become a better reader, writer, and thinker as a result of my studies, and so I am a big supporter of discussion-based learning.

While I was at UConn, I was a writing tutor at the Writing Center where I collaborated with students from different disciplines, backgrounds, and with diverse learning needs. My Writing Center work extended into a high school outreach program and an academic counseling program for intercollegiate athletes. Moreover, I was a Writing Fellow in a freshman English classroom where I facilitated weekly round-table sessions to encourage conversation, assess comprehension, and aid in my students' independent writing goals.

These activities are wide-ranging, but I do specialize in writing, reading comprehension, and English Literature at the high school and college level. My tutoring and student support experience thus far has yielded inspiring results, and I firmly believe that this is due to my Socratic question-asking methods and my commitment to empowering the students with whom I interact. Writing is profoundly social, and so conversation is truly the best tool that we can utilize. I work hard to provide a comfortable, but also challenging atmosphere.
