Hello student(s) – I have been in the test prep and academic tutoring industry for roughly 20 years. I have successfully tutored thousands of students to gain confidence and results in their testing (ACT/SAT/GRE, ISEE/SSAT) and to improve their academic performance and grades (math, sciences, and writing, in particular). I am kind and patient, using positive affirmations to guide a student as he is beginning to understand a new concept. I am curious about how a new student learns best and will try new approaches and/or repetition with new problems when I feel that a student hasn’t quite grasped a new concept. I raised a child who had learning differences that provided daily life experience for me to learn new techniques and expand my skill set for tutoring all types of students.
I have two Ivy League degrees (Princeton/Columbia) in Engineering and an MBA, so I have always valued solid education. I have a wealth of experience in investment banking and IT consulting before I got into teaching and tutoring. I started my career in tutoring by teaching test prep for Kaplan Test Prep in 2003. Within my first year, Kaplan had purchased a tutoring subsidiary, so I signed up to both teach and tutor. I received awards for my excellence while at Kaplan. After I started my own business, I realized I could gain valuable experience and knowledge by putting myself in the shoes of my students by taking the real SATs and ACTs. For 9 years up until Covid rocked our world, I took one SAT and one ACT test with the juniors at national test centers. So, I have recent experience of sitting for these tests, and recent experience scoring in the 98th to 99th percentiles.
In addition to tutoring, I enjoy road biking (and trips), gardening, golfing, family time, and adoring my cats. I am also a twin, so in celebration of twins, I offer two-for-one pricing to tutor twins. Looking forward to working with you to reach your goals. Let’s go!
