I have a passion for helping each individual student excel in English as a second language to their full potential. I am expert in English grammar and utilize the best vocabulary resources. I can also coach how to understand and speak with an American accent. According to the student's needs I focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. As an ESL teacher in public schools and in private schools of English I have worked with students from all around the world.

Ear-training remains part of my personal professional daily regimen. I tutor both groups and individuals.

I can help you learn as fast as you wish or study in-depth, for instance, focusing on the American accent, literature, conversational idioms, or other special topics. I studied teaching ESL in graduate school and have taught many diverse populations. I am a native speaker and continue to teach because I love to share my love of the English language.
Flute

Flute

I have trained with the best. I am proficient in classical and jazz instruction and performance. Training the ear is primary for all flute students, both interpretive players and improvisers. I help students step into the local and wider flute communities.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I have a BA in Music History and Theory, granted in 1999 by Oberlin College. I learned a lot in my Yale School of Music theory and ear training classes, 2000-2002, then published my theory monograph in 2005 with Charles Colin Music. I have recently designed a class around ear-training and group vocal improvisation for local communities, to be given at public libraries.
Writing

Writing

My students improve both their thinking and their writing. I assist with editing and revision, the process of writing, and the study of clear, powerful expression. I can help with both short-term projects and a committed effort to improve your writing skills. I teach everything you would find in a collegiate writing course, and beyond.
