I’m Alec, an experienced educator specializing in high school and college chemistry and physics. I graduated cum laude with a double major in biochemistry and psychology and later earned a master’s degree in physical organic chemistry. With 25 years of teaching experience at both the high school and college levels, I bring a deep understanding of these subjects to my work.
Although I grew to love science, it didn’t always come easily to me. That experience shaped my teaching style and gave me a strong appreciation for clear, flexible instruction. I focus on explaining concepts from multiple perspectives, using metaphors and practical problem-solving strategies to help students build lasting understanding—skills that extend well beyond the classroom.
For over 25 years, I have also tutored students in high school chemistry and physics, including AP Chemistry and AP Physics, as well as college-level general and organic chemistry. I assist with ACT Science preparation and college essay writing as well. Each session is tailored to the student’s needs, whether that means preparing for a test, revisiting challenging material, or getting ahead on upcoming topics.
