I am a certified high school mathematics teacher with 25 years of classroom experience. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Summa Cum Laude, from Assumption University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Connecticut. I am also a former Teacher of the Year in my school district. My primary area of expertise is AP Calculus AB and BC. Over the past seven years, 89% of my 145 Calculus AB students earned a score of 3 or higher on the AP exam, while 80% of my 61 Calculus BC students earned a 3 or higher. Last year, my 38 AP Calculus AB and BC students averaged 4.11 out of 5. I also have extensive experience teaching all areas of high school mathematics.
My 25 years in the classroom have given me extensive experience working with students of varied backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. I am skilled at identifying mathematical misconceptions and providing targeted instruction to address them. I have also developed a wealth of lessons, examples, practice problems, and instructional strategies that I tailor to each student's needs. My tutoring experience began at Assumption University, where I was nominated by my mathematics professors to serve as a tutor and worked for three years in the Academic Support Center. I have since privately tutored numerous students, most recently as an evening tutor at a local private boarding school.
My tutoring approach focuses on building both mathematical understanding and student confidence. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. Whether a student needs help with daily coursework, test preparation, foundational skills, or AP Calculus, I provide focused, individualized instruction designed to help each student become a more confident and capable problem solver.
