I'm Tiffany and I am looking forward to working with you! I have been in education for 17 years. I taught second grade for 11 years and I am currently a Literacy coach where I work in an elementary school with kindergarten to fourth grade students and take small reading groups and also coach teachers and help them to be better teachers of reading. I have a Sixth Year Degree in Literacy and I hold 3 teaching certificates including remedial reading and language arts consulting. I have experience with online and in person tutoring 1-on-1 and in small groups. I also have Orton Gillingham Level 1 training and training in the Science of Reading. I love to read and my favorite book series is The Boxcar Children.
I believe that learning should be fun and all kids should love to read. Lessons will include a structured literacy approach with many activities so students do not get bored. Activities will be differentiated to meet student needs after initial assessments but may include phonemic awareness drills, sight word mapping and practice, phonics skills explicit instruction and practice, decodable and book reading, vocabulary instruction, dictation/spelling practice, comprehension practice, games, etc. I believe each child is an individual so after getting to know the child's needs and gaps I will plan each session to meet their individual needs and monitor their progress. I believe with hard work, communication, and a partnership we will see great progress together and I am looking forward to it!
