Discrete Math

Discrete math covers a wide range of topics, all of which I have studied as and undergraduate at Cornell and as a graduate student at Central Connecticut State University and University of New Hampshire. At Cornell I did extensive work with matrices in linear algebra and algorithms in computer science. I also did a lot of work with Number Theory and Cryptography in Applicable Algebra and covered all relevant material on Probability. I built a great foundation in logic and proofs at Cornell and then Central Connecticut. I continued work on Number Theory and Counting Principles at Central Connecticut as well as Advanced Counting Principles and Applied Math. At the University of New Hampshire I really strengthened my proof writing abilities as well as work with many other topics where we focused on the sequence and series approach in Applied Math. Throughout my educational career I have been working in discrete math and have gained a strong understanding through concentration on different topics in different courses.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Curtis tutored my daughter in precalculus. He helped her understand precal in a new light. Curtis showed her different tools and ways to understand it. He was very patient with my daughter and very professional. My daughter has gone from an F to B+ thanks to Curtis.

Reliable, courteous, and helpful tutor

Curtis has been intermittently tutoring my high-school daughter in Algebra 2 as well as helping to prepare for the SATs this entire school year. He is easy to communicate with both in terms of planning and working with my daughter - and always has positive feedback and constructive advice following every lesson. His manner is relaxed and approachable. Best of all, he is reliable and courteous - if you send him a message, you can count on Curtis to reply promptly and ready to help.

Knowledgeable and works at your students pace

Curtis helped my son with 8th grade Algebra 1. Gave my son the self confidence to tackle more complex problems and helped him eliminate a lot of his testing mistakes. Highly recommend Curtis for not only keeping everything on track and building his grade but also for building math confidence.

Very good and versatile tutor

Curtis is a very good tutor. He is extremely prompt when starting his lessons and very accommodating with his time to work around our busy son’s schedule. He was able to tutor on very short notice as well. He helped raise verbal SAT by 60 points and also with advanced high school statistics. As important as his knowledge was his easygoing manner and ability to build rapport with our son. Frankly it was much easier to get our son to participate in the tutoring than in the past because Curtis was able to make the sessions enjoyable. Thank you Curtis!

Patient and knowlegeable!!

Curtis was very patient and knowlegeable in prepping my son for a advanced college Discrete math class for computer science. He was able to focus on key principles in a short amount of time which allowed my son to come away with a better understanding of these concepts. I would highly recommend Curtis in the future!!!
