“**He made me realize how much I already know!**”

Hi, my name is Curtis. I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics for over twenty years. Starting in high school in Connecticut and continuing through my college days at Cornell, I have enjoyed helping others to better understand mathematics in order to improve their test-taking experiences. I find it very rewarding to see the individual

My parents hired Curtis Y. to teach me math and help me prepare for the ACT and SAT in a few weeks. I want to improve my scores from earlier this year. I thought a tutor would make me feel dumb, but instead, I felt like a genius! Mr. Y's easy going and patient style allowed me to open my mind and remember concepts I had already learned in class. I'm so grateful to my mom and dad for finding him. Working with him gives me confidence that I'll do much better on my SAT later this month and my ACT in December.

Curtis was very patient and knowlegeable in prepping my son for a advanced college Discrete math class for computer science. He was able to focus on key principles in a short amount of time which allowed my son to come away with a better understanding of these concepts.

I would highly recommend Curtis in the future!!!

Curtis helped me with the basics and beyond of Precalculus. My confidence has improved immeasurably. I recommend Curtis whole- heartedly.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am an experienced SAT and ACT prep tutor. I am up on all of the current format changes and am confident I can help you to maximize your test score. Teaching math full-time is my background but I know what it takes to improve reading and writing skills. I emphasize test taking strategies and making the student feel more confident taking the test.

I am a High school math teacher with 14+ years of experience, including Algebra 1. I have a Master of Science in Teaching Secondary School Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire, 2000.

--Experienced Math and SAT prep tutor

--Ivy League B.A. in Mathematics from Cornell University 1993

I started the Calculus program at Griswold High School in 1997 and developed it into an Advanced Placement course, writing the curriculum and selecting the textbook. I had many students that went on to pass the AB Advanced Placement Calculus exam and enroll in some distinguished private universities. I have experience tutoring up to and including third semester college calculus as well as high school courses. I work hard to ensure that all of my students are proud of their accomplishments and come away from our tutelage experience confident and successful.

Discrete math covers a wide range of topics, all of which I have studied as and undergraduate at Cornell and as a graduate student at Central Connecticut State University and University of New Hampshire. At Cornell I did extensive work with matrices in linear algebra and algorithms in computer science. I also did a lot of work with Number Theory and Cryptography in Applicable Algebra and covered all relevant material on Probability. I built a great foundation in logic and proofs at Cornell and then Central Connecticut. I continued work on Number Theory and Counting Principles at Central Connecticut as well as Advanced Counting Principles and Applied Math. At the University of New Hampshire I really strengthened my proof writing abilities as well as work with many other topics where we focused on the sequence and series approach in Applied Math. Throughout my educational career I have been working in discrete math and have gained a strong understanding through concentration on different topics in different courses.
