Hi! My name is Armaan and I studied biology on a premedical track at Tufts University. I graduated in 3 years (6 full semesters) with a 3.996 GPA. Course I have taken at the college level involve topics such as:

biochemistry, organic chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, physics, calculus, biostatistics, Latin, virology, economics, English, government and political science, Latin, psychology, Roman culture and Roman history.
I also have expertise in Python, R, and scientific research writing and reading through courses and laboratory experience, including writing several papers for publication.

I have over 4 years of paid and volunteer tutoring experience including Wyzant, Tufts University and prior to my time in the university setting (K-12 subjects). Most recently, I have been tutoring college students via Wyzant and Tufts University's STAAR Academic Center. Moreover, I tutored 2 classmates of mine in Genetics and Organic Chemistry, as well as teaching them other STEM subjects in prior semesters depending on what they needed. I am proficient in all listed courses to a degree where I can comfortably tutor them.

My tutoring approach involves helping students understand the material they are learning in a way that not only prepares them for exams, but also help them gain confidence in their work. This is done by teaching them how to think about and connect with their material in a type of assisted independence instead of me giving all the answers to the student. I also try to relate past knowledge the student may have to the material currently being studied.

Furthermore, one gripe I have with many teaching systems is how teachers instruct in ways that are often overly-convoluted and difficult to understand. I tie in my simpler ways of thinking about concepts when teaching students in an effort to provide a clear window through which to look at those concepts. This not only makes the information easier to learn, but the information becomes easier to recall when needed in the future.

ACT Science

Score of 36 on ACT Science. Instead of studying directly for the ACT Science section, my ACT and SAT studying mostly consisted of building strategies for their respective Reading sections. I used the strategies from the Reading section as well as my background as a student researcher who learned how to analyze journal articles -- combining the strategies and background to develop an optimal strategy for the ACT Science section that led to me not getting a single question incorrect along with 10 minutes to spare by the time I had finished the section.

Premedical Student Biology Major at Tufts University with a 3.97 GPA. Fourth semester sophomore. A’s in both intro bio courses (bio13 and bio14), physiology, bacteriophages, and currently have an A in genetics. Also had an A+ in high school AP Biology and scored a 4 on the AP Biology exam without studying.

Achieved a 98% final grade in General Chemistry 2 Fall Semester 2022 as a sophomore, and a 97% final grade in General Chemistry 1 Spring Semester 2022 as a freshman. Taught classmates during the semester to help them as well as further my mastery over the material. Currently studying organic chemistry and have a 98.11% average in the course after getting a 100 on the first exam.

I started drumming in fourth grade. Practiced for and played in school concerts, parades, and football games. I prefer snare drumming as I'm best at it but have some knowledge on drum set. Did some drum line during a school concert as well. Was good enough to be on state regional concert band except for my stick grip being too tight during tryouts when I attempted to join.

Received a 96% on Physics 1 at Tufts University and a 96.8% on Physics 2. I tutored physics at the school's academic center and further solidified my physics knowledge with MCAT studying.
SAT Math

SAT Math

35 on ACT, 36 on ACT math section that uses the same principles as SAT math but at a higher difficulty. Did an uncountable amount of SAT practice exams in high school with mostly 770-800 scores on math section. Was trained by a teacher who was so good that he was able to move states to further expand his SAT tutoring business. Also a former math team student, competed seriously until sophomore year of high school, which included mastering all the material and strategies used for the SAT.
Tennis

Tennis

I practiced and competed in tennis from fourth grade until the end of high school and still play recreationally today. Took lessons when training and got to the point of being co-captain of my high school team. Learned footwork, hitting forms, and other techniques that I used to eventually help my coach in teaching other underclassmen in the tennis clinic as well as other members of my high school team.

Knows his stuff!

Armaan helped my daughter with her university chemistry class. He worked really hard to accommodate her schedule and was super knowledgeable. It seems to come more naturally to him, but he still finds ways to help students who have a harder time learning and grasping chemistry. My daughter especially liked that he seemed to understand that she didn't understand it and wasn't frustrated with her. We plan to schedule more lessons! Thank you Armaan!
