I am a current University professor teaching biology in Connecticut with 10+ years experience in academia and research. I hold a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor from the University of Connecticut. My graduate training included molecular biology and laboratory methods such as DNA extraction and PCR, along with aquatic ecology and field-based research.
I have taught Biology at the University of Connecticut level since 2019 — including both major's and non-major's coursework. My experience spans large-lecture instruction, hands-on laboratory sections, and one-on-one tutoring, working primarily with college-aged undergraduates, many of them pre-med, as well as students preparing for standardized science exams. I have also lectured upper-level (4000-level) ecology at UNH and developed curriculum for both in-person and digital instruction.
I tutor introductory and majors biology, cell and molecular biology, genetics, ecology, environmental science, anatomy and physiology, AP and Honors Biology, and pre-med/MCAT biology. My qualification in these subjects comes from teaching this material directly at the college level and from my graduate training in the biological sciences.
My approach is built on a method that consistently works: first we master the language of biology — the terminology that trips most students up — then we walk through each process step by step, and finally we place it in context so it holds up on an exam rather than evaporating afterward. In my experience, most struggling students don't lack ability; they lack a study method suited to how they actually learn. I assess each student's specific gaps and tailor sessions to their background, needs, and goals.
