A colleague recently shared to me that "I allow my students to be themselves, which helps them grow and reach the potential they didn't know were in them," which I am happy to reflect that as one of the kindest and meaningful things about me anyone has shared to me.
After graduating from UConn in 2008, I started teaching middle school math at the Whitby School in Greenwich, CT, a rigorous IB-MYP certified program that helps develop mathematicians not just simply with knowing the content, but also growing in investigating patterns, communicating and applying knowledge in real-life contexts. For the last four years, I am also the school's Middle School Math Curriculum Leader as well as the Competitive Math Team Coach, which I am proud to share our team just finished up its second place finish in the Fairfield County MathCounts Chapter Round. Working at a Pre-K to 8 school, I am also experienced in the middle school-to-high school matriculation process, especially helping students inside and outside of school to prepare for the SSAT and other external assessments administered to middle school students.
My work tutoring with students outside of school has mirrored my experience at the professional level, now with 17 years of tutoring experience in Fairfield County. For now, I am looking to set up opportunities to tutor in the Summer 2025, as well as the possibility to carry over into the 2025-26 school year.
Thanks and look forward to chatting with you soon!
