How about a relaxed, fun and natural way of learning American Sign Language? Let's try some lessons together.
Hi, I’m Kat Favoccia—certified ASL interpreter, educator, and proud advocate for connection through language. For over 30 years, I’ve helped students, families, and professionals discover the power and beauty of American Sign Language. Whether you're a parent learning to connect with your Deaf or Hard of Hearing child, a student curious about ASL, or someone looking to deepen your signing skills, I’m here to guide you—joyfully and expertly.
I hold an MS in Education and a BA in Communications: Human Relations/ASL Interpreting, and I’m certified to teach ASL (K–12) in Connecticut. I’m also nationally certified through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), with additional credentials in TESOL and early childhood signing (Certified Baby Signs® Instructor). My dedication to language access and Deaf culture has earned me awards including the Adam Aitchison Award for Outstanding Linguistic Research and membership in the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society.
My teaching is immersive, fun, and always student-centered. I tailor each lesson to your learning style and communication goals. Expect music, storytelling, games, role-play, and Deaf culture woven into every session. From toddlers to college students, interpreting majors to workplace teams—I’ve taught in classrooms, colleges, mental health settings, and online platforms across the country.
When we work together, you’re not just learning vocabulary—you’re building confidence, connection, and cultural understanding. My goal? To help you thrive as a communicator and ally in the ASL community. Let’s learn in a way that’s natural, empowering, and uniquely you.
