I am a certified Pre-K - Grade 12 Art Teacher who loves teaching Latin. I discovered this during my eight years as an Art Teacher at St. Stanislaus Middle School, where I also taught Middle School Latin and tutored several students in Cheshire and Meriden during my tenure there. Although semi-retired now, I work part-time as a Special Education Instructional Aide at East Lyme Middle School while pursuing cross-endorsement to teach Latin.
My approach to tutoring Latin is both academic and conversational. After determining the student's areas of strength and weakness, I engage through a variety of approaches. Although some rote memorizing is essential, I also converse with the student in Latin, and use puzzles, games, texts and online Latin websites. My goal is to avoid the sense of dread, of drudgery, that students often fear when it comes to language learning.
