Put yourself at ease with an experienced, knowledgeable, and patient Certified Math Teacher who specializes in test preparation.

My name is Sarah and I have 12 years of experience working in public schools, tutoring privately, and instructing at various learning centers. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have three years of experience working for Wake County Public Schools and one year teaching in Durham Public Schools.

In spite of my enthusiasm for mathematics, I did not always found math enjoyable. When I was a junior in high school I found myself struggling with math for the first time. I gave up and did not pursue it until I returned to school as an undergraduate, several years later. I am delighted when I can assist students in overcoming the same frustration that kept me math-phobic for so long.

My relevant work experience includes 12+ years of independent/private tutoring, 3+ years at Sylvan Learning Center in Connecticut, 4+ years’ experience at franchise tutoring center in North Carolina, and 2 years of volunteer tutoring at Undergraduate Math Learning Center on UNC’s campus. I have also passed (with Certificate of Excellence) the Praxis II Math Content Knowledge, Praxis II Math Pedagogy, as well as the General Science, Biology, and Chemistry Praxis.

Much of my experience has allowed me to serve special needs and learning-disabled students. I have instructed students with autism, cognitive impairments, visual impairments, and other special needs. One area of my expertise is working with students with Visual Impairments. I am certified by the Board of Education of the State of CT in Level 5 Literary & Nemeth Braille. I also have training in use of the abacus through Hadley School for the Blind.

Test preparation is another specialty of mine. I’ve received training in ACT, SAT I, GMAT, SSAT, GRE quantitative, and GED test preparation. I am thoroughly familiar with format, strategies, and content for the aforementioned exams, as well as EOGs, EOCs, and NCFEs.

Finally, I have completed courses through Hadley School for the Blind on the use of the Abacus and Unified English Braille.

I earned a 1350 on my SATs, which earned me an exemption from taking the Praxis. However, I did coach my peers in Praxis I Prep.
