I enjoy making mathematical concepts accessible to the students. Some students grasp the concepts quickly, while others learn at the slower pace. I try my best to work at the student's pace, illustrating the material with lots of examples. I've been tutoring and teaching mathematics at college level for over 25 years. I also worked with students in grades 7-12. Tutoring and teaching has been a fun and creative experience. It's also been rewarding to see students do well in their math courses.
I've been working as a math tutor for over 20 years. I received my BA in psychology in 1985 from Southern Connecticut State University and I received by MS in mathematics in 1998 from Eastern Kentucky University. Since 2001 I've been working as an adjunct professor of mathematics at Southern Connecticut State University, teaching intermediate algebra, college algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, math for liberal arts, business calculus, and statistics.

Alex is extremely knowledgeable and has a lot of patience. Having not taken a math class for over 15 plus years, Alex had eased my anxiety. He broke down calculation to my understanding. I would highly recommend Alex.
Alex is a wonderful math and statistics tutor. He is patient and thorough. I have learned a great deal from him. There are people who master certain subject matter but do not know how to convey it to others. Alex blends both of these skills which has enabled me to become much more proficient in these areas. He can teach any individual at any level. I would strongly recommend him to anyone.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught a class in differential equations at SCSU in Summer 1998 and I've tutored many students over the years in both numerical approximation of solutions as well as various analytic methods of solving first order and higher order ODES. This included solving linear, separable, homogeneous, exact, Bernoulli, Cauchy-Euler and Bernoulli ODES, as well as using undetermined coefficients, variation of parameters and reduction of order for solving higher order ODEs. I also covered series solutions, Laplace transforms and solving linear systems of differential equations.
I had graduate and and undergraduate courses in both abstract and linear algebra. I have tutored linear algebra for many years. I covered many different topics in linear algebra: systems of linear equations, Gauss-Jordan elimination, matrices, determinants, inverse matrices, linear independence, vector spaces, bases and dimension, transition matrices, orthonormal bases, Gram Schmidt Process, inner product spaces, row spaces, column spaces, null spaces, Rank-Nullity Theorem, Inverse Matrix Theorem, linear transformations, eigenvalues, and diagonalization. I've also used linear algebra methods to solve systems of differential equations.
