Hi! I’m Kelly, a freshman at Yale University double majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) and History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health (HSHM). I’m passionate about science, language, and helping students build confidence in subjects that can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Before coming to Yale, I conducted biomedical research at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, where I developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills and gained experience explaining complex scientific ideas clearly. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and scientific reasoning, and I enjoy helping students understand how these subjects work rather than just memorizing information.

I specialize in tutoring Spanish, biology, and chemistry. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complicated concepts into clear, manageable steps while adapting to each student’s learning style. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing real understanding. Whether we’re working through practice problems, reviewing class material, or preparing for exams, my goal is to help students gain both confidence and independence in their learning.

I’m also excited about tutoring because I genuinely enjoy sharing knowledge and helping students discover that they are capable of mastering challenging material. Seeing a concept “click” for someone is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

For tutoring logistics, I’m happy to offer a brief introductory conversation so we can discuss goals, learning styles, and how I can best help. I ask that students provide advance notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a lesson.

If you’re looking for a patient and supportive tutor for Spanish, biology, or chemistry, I’d love to work with you. Feel free to reach out to learn more or schedule a lesson!

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I began studying biology in my freshman year of high school, earning an A and tutoring other students. I then took AP Biology, passed the exam, received an A, and served as a Teacher Assistant the following year, helping students master course material, key concepts, and test preparation. I have conducted biomedical research in molecular and developmental biology as well as pharmaceutically-induced gerontology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, presenting my work nationally and receiving recognition for my contributions and skills. Currently, I am a Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology major at Yale University, having completed Biochemistry and Biophysics and currently enrolled in Cell Biology. Over the next year, I plan to take courses in Reproductive Biology, Developmental Biology, and Evolution and Ecology.
Chemistry

Chemistry

My journey with chemistry began in my freshman year of high school, when I self-studied for three months and successfully passed both semester exams of high school General Chemistry without taking the class. I then took AP Chemistry as a sophomore and earned an A. Currently, as a Molecular Biology student at Yale University, I have completed General Chemistry I and its laboratory component, gaining strong training in lab techniques. I am currently enrolled in General Chemistry II and its lab, maintaining A grades on homework and lab assignments. I plan to take Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry next year. Additionally, I completed a Biology course titled “Biochemistry and Biophysics,” which reinforced foundational chemistry concepts essential for success in biology.
Spanish

Spanish

I have 10 years of experience learning and mastering the Spanish language. I completed AP Spanish in high school, passed the exam, and earned the Seal of Biliteracy, demonstrating full competence in Spanish. As a non-native speaker, I have a deep understanding of the methods needed to achieve fluency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. My experience includes studying abroad in Guatemala, attending Spanish immersion schools, and currently studying at the L5 level at Yale University, the highest level of language proficiency.
