Cozy Yale Undergrad Tutor for English, Film, and Piano

Heya! I'm an undergraduate at Yale College majoring in English literature and Film. This year, I'm enrolled in the directed studies program, which means that for 6, 7 hours a day, I'm tucked away in the library, reading and writing about books. It's very cozy! In high school (I attended The Harker School in San Jose), I competed in original oratory; currently, I'm a judge for the Yale High School Invitational.

My experiences in tutoring include two years of weekly English/music lessons for children with special needs. I make an effort to help my students feel confident and competent. If it is at all possible, I try not to preach like a lecturer and instead act like a conversation partner, posing questions and encouraging disagreement. I enjoy using easy-to-follow handouts with quotations, short videos, and visual aids; I myself am a visual learner.

If you're looking for an English tutor: I will try my absolute best to channel the stereotypical Yale professor through me, and relay to you an experience as incredible as mine here in college. I hate to be that guy, but I have a 1590 SAT & a 4.5 (out of 4.7) GPA. Not too confident about my ability to tutor college folks, but feeling competent about high school material.

If you're looking for a piano tutor: I've been playing the piano for 12 years and it's a joy. I performed at Carnegie Hall in 2023 after winning 1st place at the American Protege competition.

If you're looking for a film tutor: Note that I'm not too versed in film theory, though I have plenty of experience directing indie films. I was awarded Best Student Director at the Oniros Film Awards for "Made of Stars" (2025).
