I’m Amy! I graduated magna cum laude with a Master’s degree in History and also hold a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Psychology & Sociology. In graduate school, I focused on making history feel relevant and accessible by connecting it to creativity and everyday life. I design lessons that aren’t just informative, but also interactive, engaging, and memorable for each student.
I have over ten years of experience tutoring and teaching students from elementary through college, with a special focus on grades 3–9. Along with history and social studies, I also help middle school, high school, and college students with essay writing and thesis development. I’ve taught in both virtual classrooms and one-on-one settings, working with students throughout the school year as well as during summer enrichment lessons. In many cases, I’ve met with students daily during the week, helping them build skills in world history, writing, and critical thinking step by step. My lessons are never “one size fits all.” Instead, I tailor content to each student’s learning style and interests. That might mean exploring history through comics, videos, role play, songs, or even video games, or breaking down essays into manageable steps so writing feels clear and doable. I also like to weave in current events so students can see how history and writing connect directly to their world.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore welcome any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide. I also offer a free consultation meeting and ask for 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
