Hi, I'm Amy! I am currently an undergraduate senior at Yale University majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology with a certificate in Education Studies. I have tutored a wide range of ages, from elementary students learning to read to high schoolers preparing for exams, and I believe that building trust and confidence is just as important as mastering content. My teaching is rooted in empathy and active listening, and I work to understand each student's unique learning style, tailoring my approach to meet them where they are.
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience, where I have had the opportunity to support a wide range of students across grade levels and subjects. I've helped a 4th grader improve grammar and reading comprehension, guided a 7th grader through prealgebra, and helped multiple 8th graders: one with algebra, SSAT prep, and applications for high schools, and the other with English reading and writing. I have also worked with two 9th graders with precalculus, as well as a 10th grader in refining their analytical reading and writing skills. Most recently, I prepared a high school junior for the SAT, covering both the Math and English content. These experiences have taught me how to tailor my teaching style to different learning needs and academic levels. I continue to put a lot of effort into catering for what the student needs, so I will make different lesson plans for different students and subjects. I want to help and support the students that I work with as much as possible, and welcome any resources or suggestions that students or parents have. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson. Thank you for your time!
