I am a current senior at Yale University who is double-majoring in political science and economics. Originally from Duluth, Minnesota, I am a proud graduate of a public high school, during which time I competed in National History Day and State Speech. During college, I have interned in Washington, DC for Senator Amy Klobuchar and in Saint Paul, MN for Governor Tim Walz.
I have experience tutoring a middle schooler for National History Day, where I provided advice on topic selection, sourcing, outlining, and editing. I have also tutored high school seniors for college admissions, editing essays and ultimately helping two girls gain admission to Harvard and the University of Michigan; I helped these girls in a volunteer capacity. During the most recent college admissions cycle, I worked as a paid tutor to help another senior format her Common Application, edit ten college-specific essays, and provide general advice on where to apply to college; we are still waiting on her college decisions.
I want to emphasize my experience in editing. I worked as the opinion column editor of my high school editor and now edit for The Yale Politic. Additionally, I wrote 600,000 words of creative writing throughout middle and high school, publishing this to the internet and gaining over 400,000 views, which reflects my ability to write compelling narratives.
