Hello! I'm Maya. I received my BA from Swarthmore College in 2013 (major: psychology; minor: English literature.) During this time, I began tutoring locally. I have been tutoring students one-on-one since this time (10 years). After graduating, I worked as a kindergarten co-teacher. I taught reading, writing, science, math, and social skills to children in groups of different sizes (4-12).

I received my PhD in clinical psychology in 2022 with a 4.0 GPA. I taught psychology and child development as a TA at NYU (class sizes: 24-40). Individually, I worked with these undergraduate students for test preparation and writing and revising papers. I also instructed individually and in small groups (2-6) on how to conduct human subjects research and write academic papers.

As TA of a graduate-level advanced statistics course over multiple semesters (class size: 12), I taught students to grasp and apply advanced statistical concepts. I also worked with students individually apply correct statistics using SPSS to their projects and dissertations. I have served as a peer tutor for various advanced psychology courses at the graduate level.

I have experience tutoring individually for the SAT (my score: 2360) and GRE (my score: 335; writing 6.0). I have experience working individually with students on their applications and essays for college and graduate programs. I have worked individually with psychology PhD/PsyD students for dissertation coaching and statistical instruction.

I have worked with elementary school students on math, science, reading, writing, and social skills, and Hebrew language. I have individually tutored middle and high school students in: (pre)algebra, (pre)calculus, trigonometry, geometry, grammar, literature, social studies, writing, and AP psychology, statistics, biology, chemistry, English language & composition.

As part of my PhD, I have also become experienced in integrating principles of organizational systems training toward academic success for individuals with ADHD.

Maya is great!

Really smart and helps you see it from your perspective. Very patient and understanding. I had a lot of moments where I was able to just say how I was feeling or processing information and Maya synthesized it with ease and gave me terrific direction.

Extremely knowledgeable and patient

My son (who is a tough judge) loved his first session with Maya. She was, according to him, “crazy smart” and she refused to let him describe himself as “lazy” (which makes her much nicer than I am). Maya sent very detailed (and useful) follow up notes and really took her time explaining geometry concepts to my son. We will be signing up for more - and for organization/executive functioning work as well.

Maya is really good

I have gaps in my psych knowledge for the AP Exam. I will continue to work with her so I can master the content- and try to get a decent score. I should be seeing Maya a few more times.
