Welcome! My name is Justin—many of my students call me Mr. J. I’m truly glad you’re here.
If your child is feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, you’re not alone. Finding the right tutor can be difficult. My goal is to make this process feel supportive, clear, and encouraging from the very beginning.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. During this time, I’ll learn about your child’s needs, strengths, and interests, as well as what you value most in an educator.
I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education, holding a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in Applied Curriculum & Instruction. I also hold active teaching licenses in Connecticut and Alaska. I’ve worked with students ages 2–16 as a teacher, paraprofessional, mentor, and camp director.
My approach is rooted in trust, collaboration, and a holistic view of learning. By integrating social-emotional learning, developmental psychology, and creative expression, I help students build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning.
Every child is unique, so I create individualized plans tailored to your child’s goals. I draw from research-based methods including Science of Reading, UDL, inquiry-based learning, and culturally responsive teaching.
If you’d like to connect, I’d love to meet you. Wishing you and your family the very best on your learning journey.
