I went to the University of Connecticut and obtained my bachelors degree in Biological Sciences in 2023 after graduating in three years. I now work as an EMT for my town while I study for the MCAT. I took the SAT my senior year of High school (2020) and got a 1550. 780 on math, and 770 on LA. I hate to see students struggling and always love to help get to the route of peoples problems.
I spent two years tutoring at UConn at the Q-Center. The Q-Center was a place in the library that students could go to to find peer tutoring on quantitative classes. I taught chemistry there and worked with individuals, and groups of up to five. I would help students with individual problems they were stuck on whether it be homework or old exams, and I would also form small groups and do small lectures on problems that I thought were important to understand.
I taught students ranging from 18-25. Students were allowed to come and go as they pleased and brought in homework or practice they wanted to go over. I spent the majority of the time going over specific questions and teaching that way. But I would also branch out in giving conceptual lessons to help students understand topics rather than just having a flow chart for tackling problems. I found that helping students look for how practice questions are changed to become exam questions helped students find more success in knowing what to study.
