I have been in the education field for over ten years. My love of teaching stems from my own early childhood years. I too struggled as a child. Learning didn't come easy to me. I had to try harder than most. When I pursued an education career, I knew I wanted to give back. What I didn't expect was what I got in return. The unconditional trust that my students put in me. I had to try harder than most. When I pursued an education career, I knew I wanted to give back. What I didn't expect was what I got in return. The unconditional trust that my students put in me. The smiles on their faces when a difficult concept becomes manageable and within their grasp.
My area of expertise is in Special Education, reading, writing, and math at the elementary level. Whether we are working on strategies for decoding words, comprehension, or fluency I like to engage my students by using a number of different motivating methods. By modeling to my students, I can show that there are many ways to learn a specific skill. I can tailor each method to meet students individual needs.
I pride myself on a one size does not fit all approach. Being diligent and paying attention to non verbal cues as well as having a conversation with my student when I feel another approach is necessary. i welcome feedback from my parents at any time. I would never think of billing a session if a student or parent were not completely satisfied.
Being a parent myself I understand the importance of flexibility. While I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, I am happy to make-up classes.
