I'm Shani! I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.Sc in Molecular and Cell Biology and a 3.5 GPA. During my studies, I found out just how much having academic support determines a student's grades and overall success. I'm Shani! I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.Sc in Molecular and Cell Biology and a 3.5 GPA. During my studies, I found out just how much having academic support determines a student's grades and overall success. Teachers and tutors who put in the extra work to make sure that each student is met where they are at and are engaged in the coursework make all the difference, and I strive to be one of them. I try to communicate directly with the student to see what lesson plans and study habits work for them and to make it enjoyable along the way. I believe, that especially with the sciences, open discussion followed by practice and active recall are the best methods. This, however, can of course be adjusted for the student's individual needs!
I have three years of experience in biology tutoring and five years of experience with tutoring overall. I worked mostly with students individually or in small groups numbering 2-5. I have tutored all ages, from pre-school to university level, and all are welcome! Nothing makes me happier than seeing that "lightbulb" moment on a student's face. I am comfortable tutoring Biology up to university level, and can tutor other subjects such as English, History, and General Science at high school levels. Younger students are always welcome as well.
I want to make sure that any student I work with has a positive outcome, and as such any resources provided by the student or the parent is encouraged. Feel free to contact for more info!
