University of Connecticut (English)
My name is Adam and I am passionate about teaching a variety of subjects to all kinds of learners. Over the past two and a half years, I've helped hundreds of students achieve their academic goals. Recently, I graduated from the University of Connecticut with an English degree. With my experience, I am confident I'll be able to help you reach outstanding academic success.
Throughout my life, I've enjoyed helping people with subjects such as Math, Writing, SATs, Test-Taking, Public Speaking, Theatre, and many more. I have ample tutoring experience in all of these subjects. I'm happy to meet you and help you succeed in whatever way you wish to. As your tutor, I will make it my priority to help you achieve your goals.
I think it's important for me, as your tutor, to realize the ways in which you learn best. Everyone learns differently, so no student can be taught in the same way. That is the benefit of one-on-one instruction rather than classroom learning; we can really focus on your needs as a student. I will also do my best to inspire your interest in the subject, because I know that greater student interest inspires greater learning.
I'm excited about helping you learn your subject of choice. Let's make it happen! Hello everyone,

In the 4 months that Adam has tutored my 7th grade son, we have seen a transformation from a student having difficulties with reading comprehension and test taking to an honor student confident in his abilities and ready to take the next steps as a student. Adam’s mentoring has helped him across ALL SUBJECTS. Adam is teaching my son how to learn - learning how to read and study, and approaching his work with renewed enthusiasm.
Convincing a 12 year-old boy/tween that a tutor is the right way to go was challenging. I think the fact that Adam is young made him much more relatable to my son. Meeting with Adam is now just part of his weekly routine that he accepts and prepares for.
When looking for a tutor, we wanted someone not only with subject matter expertise, but someone with the temperament and knowledge to help our son become a well-rounded learner. Adam is the perfect match. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Adam is very helpful when tutoring my son, Xavier with a variety of subjects. He is patient and has a way of explaining things more thoroughly resulting in a better understanding of the subject matter.
My son has been working with Adam and loves it! He feels much more confident in his ability to do his best in the SAT tests thanks to Adam. We will continue working with Adam as my son gets ready to take the SAT subject tests as well. Thank you!
Adam gave my son the direction and focus he needed to get his work done and made homework more enjoyable for him. My son never wanted a tutor but looks forward to his sessions with Adam.
Adam helped my daughter Sarah use some strategies on the SAT. He worked with only twice, as she was taking the SAT within 2 weeks time of my scheduling with him. Hopefully it helps her scores, although we plan to continue tutoring for the April and June test dates. All in all, Adam is a great choice!
Adam was an awesome tutor! He was easy to communicate with, prompt, well organized and very focused. He quickly developed an easy repouire with his student. I would highly recommend him!
Adam made a difference with my son after just one session. He said Adam really helped him understand math he missed while out sick at school. Great start and looking forward to more sessions.
Adam Knows how to relate and effectively communicate even the most abstract concepts. He did a great job of assessing my son's level and knowledge and focusing in on the gaps. It made a big difference and helped raise his confidence for the Final Exam. Thanks Adam!
Adam is a great tutor. He was very patient and knowledgeable and he really helped my daughter improve her test grade.
Adam is a really good tutor and he taught me a lot, I am glad that I work with him! Highly recommended
Adam was very patient and packed a lot of studying and tutoring in just a few sessions. Matthew was much more confident going into the SAT. We will have the result in a week or so. We highly recommend him would call on him again.
Adam recently started to tutor my son in Math (7th grade). He is very knowledgeable and patient. My son really enjoyed working with Adam. We are very hopeful that Adam will help our son gain the skills and the confidence to success in Math.
Recently, Adam has been teaching me reading strategies to improve my sat reading score so I can do much better. The examples he explains to me is very clear and understanding.
Adam helped me understand more of the rules for vocabulary on the SAT. He also helped me learn some grammar rules that I was unaware of in the past.
Adam was able to establish a good rapport with my son. He was patient and explained some problems he was struggling with in a way that my son understood. He is looking forward to working with Adam!
Adam is teaching me pre-algebra, he makes it much simpler to understand, it's not confusing.
I'm feeling more confident in my math abilities, makes learning easier.
Adam is being very thorough with the subject matter for the SAT's. He challenges my daughter to review subject material which she most likely would not do on her own volition.
We are very glad Adam can teach Julia in such a short time. We see improvements and she is very excited to have lessons with him.
Adam worked well with my daughter, who is 13 and having trouble in honors geometry. He was patient and explained it in such a way that she could understand it! Thanks, Adam.
Adam is a wonderful tutor. He has been very flexible and patient with our schedule. He works hard to help my son understand the math work and we really appreciate it.
Adam tutored my son in math (college level). My son wasn't able to pass this class his first year and then he was tutored by Adam. I am proud to say my son not only passed, he got an A. I can't thank you enough Adam. This has given my son great confidence. He also really enjoyed working with Adam. We will definitely be using him for next school year! Great tutor!
Adam was a great tutor. I've used 3 from Wyzant, all great, but he was also so committed to get the kids' hours in because he had several other clients. Really appreciated his flexibility and commitment.
First impression was great. Nice, knowledgeable young man with keen math skills and good teaching ability. He assessed my son's ability and provided insight into how he can improve his SAT math score. Hoping to increase by 100 points!
5 stars. He's cool and very helpful, reported my 16 year old after the first session, without being prompted. We are very hopeful that Adam will help our daughter gain the skills and the confidence to be successful in Math. We are looking for a long term relationship with a tutor to help in SAT prep in the future. Good knowing he has a mix of skill sets to offer.
My name is David and I am an adult old student who has decided to return to the classroom after being absent for 20 yrs. One of my biggest regrets in life was not going to college, so when I decided to take the plunge, I was very nervous and I instantly knew that I would need extra help to feel comfortable around students that were not only half my age, but were used to the work that I was going to be challenged with. I went online and accidentally found the Wyzant website. I looked through the profiles of the tutors available and I instantly new that Adam was the one that would change my views on going back to school. Adam is one of the most patient, understanding, and down to earth guys I have ever met. I can honestly say that without Adams guidance, I would have never made it through this College Algebra class. There is at least 20 yrs. between the two of us, but that did not stop us from connecting and making the grades happen. I have a 90 in the class and that would never have happened without Adams patience and professionalism. I don't care if you are 10, 20 or 40. I am here to tell you that Adam is the only one you should choose for your tutoring needs. I am so grateful to you Adam....
This was my daughter's 3rd session with Adam. Her confidence and subject understanding is growing and that is a good thing. Adam has been punctual and flexible with scheduling. I am grateful he is able to help us. I look forward to seeing her math grade improve and see her able to tackle SATs in 2014 with more confidence.
Adam is very thorough, with a very good sense of how much to push. It's great he understands that it's best to seek answers from the student instead of simply providing them. He is a good facilitator and approaches my son with a progressive balance of challenge and acknowledgement.
Adam has been wonderful! Our son took to him almost immediately. Adam maintains our son's focus, by making math fun! We are grateful to have found Adam. We look forward to seeing our son's success, and confidence build in math. Great job Adam!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored hundreds of students in this area and most have brought their grades up significantly under my tutelage. I share with my students all the necessary strategies in order to excel at Algebra!
I have played chess since I was 3 or 4 years old. My dad, a past chess master, taught me as much as he could. When I was nine, I won 1st place in the state chess championship in the lower division. I love the game and am happy to teach all I know.
I am currently studying to be a high school teacher, although I used to be a Childhood Education major in college. I have lots of experience with elementary-age children. I spent time working with 5th graders in New York City and I also was a camp counselor for two summers. I like working with kids because I know how pivotal a teacher is to their development.
I have been performing in and producing theatrical shows since the age of six. In high school, I had the opportunity to run my town's non-profit theatre troupe as director/producer. I led casts and crews of 40+ for two summer musicals. Because of my experience in acting, directing, producing, and writing, I am capable to teach theatre arts on a variety of levels. Plus, it is a passion of mine.
