Hi, I’m Sophia! I graduated from Amherst College with a degree in Economics while completing the pre-medical track, where I was also a student-athlete playing Division III field hockey. I’m currently a medical student at UConn, and I’m excited to help students achieve their academic goals through focused, supportive, and personalized tutoring.
I have two years of experience tutoring middle school students one-on-one in math, and I now specialize in MCAT preparation, Algebra, and Biology/other science topics. Having gone through the challenges of mastering complex material myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when concepts don’t immediately “click.” My own success came from asking questions, working through problems out loud, and learning in personalized settings—approaches I now bring to every tutoring session.
My teaching style is student-centered: I create a comfortable space where students feel encouraged to ask questions, no matter how big or small. I use active problem-solving and clear explanations to break down tough material and ensure students gain both confidence and mastery.
I also value flexibility and understand that life can be unpredictable—especially when balancing academics, extracurriculars, or work. I offer flexible scheduling to accommodate students’ needs and ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.
Whether you’re preparing for the MCAT, working through algebra homework, or tackling biology concepts, I’ll meet you where you are and help you build the tools to succeed. I’m responsive, approachable, and committed to making each session as effective as possible.
I’d love to work with you—please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
