Hello, Bonjour, Buenos días!
My name is Heather and I've been teaching and tutoring French, Spanish and English since 2009. Teaching is my passion, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping students succeed. As both a language learner and teacher, I understand the challenges students face when learning a new language and I help them overcome these difficulties. I cater my lessons to the specific needs and wants of the student (i.e. grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading, writing, etc.). I like to incorporate culture and technology (including authentic resources, websites, music, and more) into my lessons and to encourage students to use the target language as much as possible.

I've worked with students of all ages from babies to senior citizens. I have taught all levels of high school French (1 to AP) and Spanish 1 and 2. I currently teach French and Spanish online to adults (intermediate and advanced French and beginner and intermediate Spanish as well as in-person EFL classes and online Polish classes to adults.

I studied abroad in France then spent 2 years living in Bretagne where I taught English to elementary school children and studied Arabic. I have visited Spain multiple times and lived in San José, Costa Rica.

I earned a B.A. in French Language and Literature and I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree in French and Francophone Studies. I have a Professional License to teach Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) Grades 5-12 in Massachusetts and have passed the MTEL in French, Spanish, and ESL. I also hold a 100-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification.

I tutor online or in-person around Northern CT and Western MA. Please note that I have a 5-hour cancellation policy, though I do allow for make-up sessions. I am available to meet with prospective students and their parents for a free introductory meeting to ensure that we are all on the same page. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your academic and/or personal goals!

I'm a professional language teacher with a Master's in Teaching (M.A.T.) who has been teaching students since 2009. I am very analytical and enjoy editing texts and correcting grammar. As a passionate language teacher and learner, I love making sense of difficult grammatical concepts and then breaking them down so my students can understand them. I speak English, French, Spanish, and Polish, and I'm currently learning Arabic and Italian. I have also studied a number of other languages for fun (Korean, Japanese, Hebrew, Greek, etc.) as I enjoy comparing grammatical structures of different language families.
