Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

Let's start with what you do well. Identify where your weaknesses are, and work from there. Focused, positive reinforcement of proper and powerful strategies to improve your score. Reading comprehension, grammar, and writing, I can improve them all. Test taking strategies you won't learn elsewhere. I look forward to being your partner in success.

ACT Reading

Reading tests are all about test taking strategy, it's proper understanding of the the material and the question that is important. I am prepared to help you improve both.

In my experience being an alternative high school English Teacher, I acquired 6 years of hands-on experience with special needs students, including those with ADD/ADHD. In my experience these students benefit not only from a multisensory approach to learning, but also a special amount of patience. In my tutoring, I would work to provide opportunities for movement, positive reinforcement, routine in order to achieve results. Moreover, I am prepared to reinforce IEP and 504 strategies in my tutoring.

I look forward to helping you improve your ASVAB performance and pursue a new path. I have many years of experience helping struggling learners pass exams. I employ positive reinforcement, and I teach you strategies that help you in multiple areas. I look forward to being your tutor.

I have 20+ years of office administrative experience from filing clerk and receptionist to middle management in a $40 million company. I currently hold professional financial license in both life insurance and securities - and operate as an independent representative with an international firm. In addition, I teach basic business courses such as Microsoft Office, Accounting, and Office Administration at a career institute in CT.

Career Development

In my role as English teacher in an alternative high school I designed and taught a class on English for the World of Work. I focused on customer service, personality assessment, interviewing skills, public speaking, job hunting and networking as well as conflict resolution. Career development is about personal development - improve your people skills, improve your income!

College Counseling

As a high school English teacher and college professor, I have special insight into the level of work expected of college students and prospective college students. In my experience, students seeking college counseling assistance are seeking advice on selecting an appropriate college program, completing the application and essay, or choosing a career path. As I have personally been through this process for my own undergraduate and graduate work, and have helped others do the same as a teacher and tutor, I believe I am qualified to help future students take this important step toward their future. I look forward to being advocate that can help make the process fun and engaging rather than stressful and daunting.

I am a certified English Teacher with 20+ years experience helping students prepare for and pass exams, write, and comprehend literature.

I am not certified in ESL/ESOL as a professional, but I have experience with second-language learners. I am well aware of the many complications and tricks of the English language and have proven strategies to help lesson frustration and improve performance.

With over 10 years of teaching experience with middle school, high school, and college students (most of whom were at-risk) I have developed a wide range of non-traditional methods to "break down" tough topics and make the material you struggle with "relate" to something you already understand. I look forward to helping you conquer GED math as you continue on our path to success!

Microsoft Excel

I have over 15 years of experience as a Microsoft Excel user. I am considered an "expert" level user as I have full knowledge in the use of this powerful tool for functions from simple recording of data and basic math functions to hyperlinks, word formulas, subtotaling, multiple sheet references, and linking to data-merge files. I can navigate export/import functions, format pages, and write macros. However, pivot tables and charts are not my specialty. If you are just learning, or want to unlock the power of an amazing tool, I can help.

Microsoft Outlook

As an administrative assistant and mid-level manager, I used Outlook daily to manage workflow, assign and accept tasks, and track projects through the calendar tool for years in an administrative capacity. This one tool is not just for email, but also for organizing your work.

Microsoft PowerPoint

In addition to over 15 years of professional use of PowerPoint in both administrative and teaching assignments, I currently teach both Excel and PowerPoint at a local career institute. I qualify an Excel expert based on the depth and breath of my knowledge of the application. As for PowerPoint, I am an experienced user with the added benefit of teaching experience and infinite patience.

Great tutor!

Christy is a tutor who initially takes the time to get to know exactly what your needs are before just diving into the tutoring session. Then, once we got started, she took the time to review my material to see where I was headed with my paper and helped me tweak the necessary without throwing out my ideas. She's quite intelligent, very educated, professional, and has a great personality. I would
