I am an educator with experience at both the high school and university level teaching international relations, comparative politics, American government, and human rights. I bring over a decade of teaching experience, including at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and Franklin Academy—a boarding school in East Haddam, Connecticut, that serves neurodivergent learners. At Franklin Academy, I am in my ninth year helping students develop the social, emotional, and academic skills necessary to thrive in college and beyond.
In addition to teaching humanities, I have designed and taught entrepreneurship and business courses tailored for students interested in launching small businesses. This work draws on my 25 years of experience in retail management, which has allowed me to bring real-world relevance and case-based learning into the classroom.
My academic background includes a Ph.D. in Political Science, a Master’s in International Studies (Central
Connecticut State University), and a Bachelor’s in Business Management. I have also completed graduate coursework in finance, human resources, and business ethics at Stony Brook University. I hold both a Connecticut teaching certificate in social studies (026) and a Graduate Certificate in College Instruction (GCCI).
My teaching philosophy centers on strength-based learning and collaborative inquiry. I create opportunities for students to engage in meaningful projects, build critical thinking skills, and learn through case studies.
Grounded in social learning theory, my classroom is a space where students are encouraged to share, challenge, and refine their understanding of the world. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my teaching career has been inspiring students to pursue majors and careers in the humanities.
I am part time rater for AP Comparative Government and AP Seminar. I have also been tutoring for about a year.
