I enjoy helping people learn how to better express their ideas through written language. I've taught English Composition at the college level for twelve years, written professionally for several publications, and consulted for several workplaces on writing in the workplace. In addition to teaching and tutoring, I've worked as Assistant Director of First Year Writing at UConn, Writing Tutorial Coordinator at Baruch College in Manhattan and Coordinator of Learning Resources at Cape Cod Community College. I'm currently pursuing my PhD in English Composition because of my desire to deepen my own scholarship in the field and, specifically in the realm of community writing and local discourse ecologies.

My inspiration in working with students is to help them develop the sense of personal power that accompanies a strong grasp of writing. I tutor and teach writing as a recursive process that starts with reading and reflecting then moves into a rough draft, then subsequent drafts and ends with a polished final product. Along the way, I help students build their knowledge of vocabulary and grammar. For me, writing is a rigorous but joyful process and I love sharing my passion for the challenges and the joys of writing with students.
