My name is Ashley S. I earned my PhD in counseling psychology from Ball State University in 2021, received my Masters from University of North Dakota in 2017, and completed undergrad in 2015 from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

I am new to formal tutoring and have more experience with therapeutic interventions, but I have taught multiple undergraduate-level courses and have been involved in educational presentations and seminars consistently for 6 years. I have specifically taught undergraduate classes related general psychology, human sexuality, and multiculturalism where clinical writing, research, and APA-style were heavily focused on. Further, I have tailored seminars and presentations on other aspects of psychology such as neuroscience, biological bases of behavior, and the intersection of mental and physical health. Seminars and presentations have been largely with graduate- level psychology or medical students. I developed and presented all material based on my own research/knowledge/clinical experience. While not my most recent experience, I have volunteered in a school-based mental health program for adolescents where I worked for 6-12 months. I believe tutoring and teaching allows me to utilize both my understanding of learning from a cognitive standpoint, as well as all of the knowledge I have gained over my years of training and coursework.

I have previously taught classes both in-person and online in an asynchronous modality. I feel comfortable working in both modalities and believe there are advantages/disadvantages to each. I am interested in expanding my teaching experience and believe my skill set would serve me well within the one-on-one tutoring context.
