Hello, and thank you for taking a look at my profile. My name is Summer, and I hold a PhD in chemistry along with more than seven years of experience teaching chemistry to undergraduate students at the University of Calgary. Over those years I worked with hundreds of students at exactly the stage where general and AP-level chemistry either "clicks" or becomes overwhelming, and I came to understand the specific places where students get stuck: balancing equations, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, equilibrium, acids and bases, and the reasoning skills the AP exam rewards. I specialize in AP Chemistry and college-level general chemistry, and I've built my own full-year AP curriculum from the ground up: ten organized units, day-by-day lesson plans keyed to Brown and LeMay's Chemistry: The Central Science, original practice sets, lab activities, and dedicated AP exam preparation. That means I don't just answer questions as they come up; I can offer you a clear, structured path through the entire course whenever that's helpful.
My approach to tutoring is patient, practical, and built around how you actually think. I start by finding out where you are and what's confusing you, then work backward to the underlying concept rather than just walking through the answer to one problem. I believe chemistry makes far more sense when you understand why something happens instead of memorizing steps, so I focus on building genuine understanding and confidence that carries over to the next unit and to exam day. Whether you're aiming for a 5 on the AP exam, trying to raise a grade, or just hoping to finally feel comfortable with the material, I'll meet you at your level and adapt to your pace. I'd love the chance to help you succeed, and I look forward to working together.
