Hello! I'm Daniel, a molecular biologist and data scientist currently working remotely as a Computational Biologist for a biotech startup in Connecticut. I have more than 15 experience in tutoring and hold a PhD in cell and molecular biology. In my regular work as a researcher, I've published journal articles on numerous topics in science, including mutagenics, stem cell biology, gene network analysis, integrative data analytics, and more, particularly specializing in stem cell biology and large-scale data analysis.

I have held numerous tutoring and teaching positions, both with schools as a certified teacher and privately. Among them, I was a science tutor from October 2007 to July 2009 where I tutored all math and science courses at my undergrad university and tutored disabled students through my university and the State from January 2009 to July 2009. Throughout my graduate career (2009-2015) I worked as a TA for the school while continuing as a private tutor. In addition, I worked with Mad Science as a performer, going to school events, parties, and classes for elementary and middle school aged kids.

Since earning my PhD, I have continued to work with students and groups in subjects from elementary to graduate school to curious adult learners, both online and in-person. I primarily focus on assisting with math and science courses, learning strategy assistance, and test prep for AP courses, along with the SAT, ACT, GRE, and more. My students have achieved 5s on AP tests from being on the brink of dropping out, perfect scores on SAT subject tests, improved SAT test scores by hundreds of points, and earned positions in 90+ percentiles of scoring.

I prefer to tutor using the Socratic method. I don't give out answers to students, but instead facilitate the students to let them find answers and lead them in the right direction. While I mostly tutor upper-level students now, I love working with children and have lots of experience tutoring and teaching elementary and middle-school aged children.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I initially took algebra I in 7th grade, moving up consistently and taking calculus BC in high school my senior year, getting A's and B's all throughout. During my years of undergraduate work ('05-'09) I tutored in numerous levels of math, including sticking with the basic algebra assistance.
Biology

Biology

I graduated with a BS in Biomedical Sciences degree and a minor in Chemistry in 2009 and a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2015. During my schooling in both college and graduate school I tutored extensively for biology, genetics, microbiology, physiology, and cell and molecular biologies.
Chemistry

Chemistry

During my undergraduate training, I took advanced courses in chemistry including organic, biochem, instrumental analysis, and physical chemistry. In addition, I worked as a research assistant during organic chemistry to perform chiral separations of a new drug. I graduated with a minor in chemistry (majored in biomedical sciences). I continue to perform a great deal of chemistry-centric work, focusing on drug discovery and modifications.
General Computer

General Computer

I have formal training in programming (C++, Mathematica, and some HTML and python) and have worked with computers since I had the hand-eye coordination needed. I worked on a project for the ONR (Office of Naval Research) as an assistant to the IT manager setting up new computers, keeping track of updates, antivirus, and other general computer duties during my Undergraduate career. In addition, I built my own computer from purchased parts in Undergrad and have helped friends, family members, and clients with numerous computer issues from hardware installation/upgrading, viral removal, hard drive formatting and re-set up to functionalities such as WiFi set up, usage assistance, software installation, and peripheral (printers, scanners, etc.) set up.
Genetics

Genetics

I have a PhD in molecular biology which focused on DNA mutagenesis. I was trained in a lab that studied spermatogenesis and, by extension, was heavily genetics-centric. In addition, I've taken graduate level courses in genetics and taught the class at a college level, as well as having tutored the class in one-on-one sessions.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

As an undergraduate, I minored in chemistry. This included, amongst other classes, taking organic chemistry I and II, in both of which I received A's. In addition, I worked with my organic chemistry professors on a pharmaceutical separation project, heavily involving determination of reagent and product structures, chiral separation by NMR, and more.

1000% recommend

I am in a master program and needed some serious help with Molecular Biology. Daniel is my favorite tutor I have ever had. Patient, funny, knowledgeable in basically all the sciences specifically molecular. We had set up a weekly meeting that we went over the information I needed help with. However, outside of that, he was swift at answering messages and was informative. Since I am under a lot of stress with the grad program, he was clam, patient, and supportive with all my studies. I always told him that he should teach at my university. I truly appreciate his help this semester. Well worth the time and money! Thank you Daniel from the bottom of my grades and heart.

Patient tutor and very knowledgeable

Reviewed molecular biology techniques and math concepts. I am very pleased and would like to continue with his tutoring services in the future. He is patient and cares to dumb down concepts into manageable information pieces without making you feel ashamed.

Great personality and great with kids.

Daniel took his time to do a math assessment for my 12-year-old son. I received the areas of focus and good suggestions to establish a practice routine for my son.
