After several years of teaching elementary school, I decided to take some time off to raise my four children, now ages, 9, 11, 15, and 17. After several years of teaching elementary school, I decided to take some time off to raise my four children, now ages, 9, 11, 15, and 17. During that time, I had a home daycare, providing care and a loving home setting for up to six children and infants at a time. Since then, I have begun working at a local elementary school as an Applied Behavior Analyst. I work daily with students who have various degrees of autism and educational delays. We work on academics as well as personal habits, such as hand washing , eating, physical fitness, and social skills.
I have always loved children and been involved in education. It is my pleasure to enable students to demonstrate their knowledge to the best of their abilities. I have learned through teaching and with the experience of raising my own children that a student's confidence in his or her ability is one of the most important factors in a successful school career. I use positive reinforcement and modeling to encourage my students. I am creative in finding many ways to demonstrate the same concept which allows my students to gain exposure to different ways of thinking and addresses their own unique learning style. I look forward to meeting new students and watching them blossom into confident, capable learners.
